Creativity

Jan 20, 03:07 PM | written by John Peele

How’s that for a totally scary article title? Creativity is that thing that keeps me up at night, and all at once one of the things that keeps my passion for this business burning bright.

But how do we approach being creative, how do you approach being creative? And before you get started down that path, creativity isn’t something reserved for “designers” or the graphic arts elite. We (RBP) believe that creativity must exist in multiple areas of vocation and within organizations.

So what do you (and I) “do” in order to spark our creative energy? I must admit that this post was spurred by D. Keith Robinson’s article over at Asterisk about his new method for beginning his “concepting” sessions. His approach was new to me (vampires get the juices flowing in one of his sessions), but very thought-provoking nonetheless.

Here is my first list:

  • Watches
  • Strong wind blowing
  • Electronic music
  • Old postcards
  • B&W photography

That was harder than I thought. What’chu got?

This is weird, but I have all my good ideas come to me in the shower. I don’t know what it is about it, but that is where my best brainstorming occurs! I am always having to jump out and go write something down before I forget. Probably a little more information than you were needing, right?
